Alex: Mom, you're a skinker skin!
Mom: Oh yeah. What's a skinker skin?
Alex: It's when a skinker eats meat in a box!
Mom: Okay!?.
He's definitely a Johansen. That almost reaches Eric standards.

Alex a new home
The other day I was talking to Melynn, this was our conversation:

Never leave him alone
TWO MINUTES...That is all the time it took for my little boy to pour dish soap into my purse. I was standing with in five feet of the car when he caused this destruction. Why did I have dish soap in my car, you ask...visiting teaching gifts. It took me two hours to get it out of the seat. Peter was sweet enough to tackle my purse...my phone, camera and wallet live to see another day...so does Alex, barely.

Dreaming
I am awake at 3:30 in the morning because Alex woke up crying for me. I figured he just wanted his sippy filled with milk instead of water, but when I went in there he is sobbing and when I finally understood. He said "Melly, threw away my fruit snacks.". He asked me for some more fruit snack in the baggy. When I told him that we didn't have any all we had were gummy vitamins, he seemed okay with have them. I guess he was dreaming because we haven't had fruit snacks in over a week. Plus we don't want Melly to get into trouble for something she only did in a dream.

Amazing Kid
Alex was sitting on my bed this morning at about 7:50 when the alarm clock started to sound. Alex whispers loudly "OFF" And walks over to the alarm clock and hit the snooze button. This is not just a freak accident. A minute later when Melynn turned on the alarm Alex immediately went over told Melly "DON'T" and proceeded to try and turn off the alarm.

Since We Got Lola
Since we got Lola, Alex has picked up a couple of phrases that we hear nonstop through out the day.
"NO BARK, SIT" -Let me explain this one. He learned to say "no bark" from his sister and the sit part he started because when he is sitting in the grocery cart he likes to stand up. I simply say to him "sit" and he does exactly that. It's actually pretty amazing.
"NO LOLA" -I think that's self explanatory.
On a side note we are discovering an amazing talent that Alex has. He can see a sign done once and he will never forget it. The other day while I was cooking dinner he was trying to touch the stove and I signed HOT and he did it right back, then reached for me to pick him up to see what was hot. Now was we have realized is that Melynn loved/loves signs Alex picks them up and can do them a lot quicker than Melynn can. What a smart baby.

Our OTHER Chickenpox Monster
Ten days ago yesterday was Alex's birthday and also the day he got the Chickenpox vaccination. Never again will I get this vaccine for my children. I don't see the point in it if they get them anyway.
When I voiced my concern to the doctor the about letting him get it he told me that it rarely rarely happens and he didn't have to get it. I thought about this and decided that I would give this vaccine one more chance.
Unfortunately the spots were not dark enough to photograph and only lasted a day, but they were everywhere. This is all still proof enough that we won't be getting it again.

Firsts
Yesterday was a very big day for my now one year old baby.
First we had Alex's 12 month check-up and immunizations....I know, I know I'm a really mean Mom to have him get immunizations on his birthday. It's the only time that we could do it. Our life has been really crazy with buying a house. Anyway he did really great and the doctor said he looks great. He is now one and his measurements are:
22 lbs 4 oz in the 50 %
Oversized head comes in at the 75%
He is definately a fighter. He fought tooth and nail to get away from getting the shots and when they pricked his finger to do the hemoglobin test and all the while crying for "da-da". Daddy is his protector.
Second I decided to take Alex to get a hair cut. I couldn't handle the hair in his eyes and it was so long at the nape of his neck that it was starting to curl. I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of grief from people. I do agree he looked cute before, but he looks so handsome now. Take a look for yourself.
Last but not least we bought stuff for Melynn and I to make Alex a cake. She is such a great little helper. She sat by the oven and watched it cook. She was so excited to give it to Grubs. Here are a few pics and videos of the cake eating event. I feel kind of bad, my sweet little Melly got a bit jealous from the lack of attention. She wanted so badly to get her picture taken eating cake. I think that I will give her some cake and take pictures of it. Anyway enjoy.
The jealousy coming out. Yeah cake batter all over her cute face. I love Alex peaking out from above.

Hair Cut Evidence
Look at all that crazy hair. This is why I asked Peter if he thought Alex needed a hair cut. What a cutie. I love it!

Hair Cut?
I asked peter yesterday if he thought it was time for Alex to have a hair cut, he sternly replied, NO! I told him that if he wanted to keep it this length then we needed to manage it better as well as Melynn.

Taking Steps
The last few weeks have been fun. I think we are going to have another kid that walks before they are one. Alex is steadily becoming more and more brave. He can now take 2 or 3 steps before he gives up and resorts to crawling. Crawling is so much easier and he definitely knows it. He always has to be moving and be right where Melynn is. He absolutely adores her (I'm sure it goes both ways). Every morning when we go to get them out of bed we find Melynn in his crib with him. I hope that old crib is able to support 50+ lbs.

Video Dump
First off Christmas Post to come. The videos took a long time to upload.
Katie and Matt went to San Diego on their honeymoon. While they were there they went to Sea World. This is Matt showing us how to do the Shamu Slam. He was good enough to tell us that he shakes his hips more when it's just him and Katie.
The other day we heard a loud thump and went to investigate. This is what we found and where. We figure Melynn helped him in.
Alex has an amazing ability to copy anything you do. He started doing this tonight. It was really funny. It's amazing how quickly he picks things up. What a SMART baby.
He saw the camera and started shaking his head.Look at those big beautiful brown eyes.
Just another cute facial expression.
This seasons first snow happened to be on a Sunday. Melly could not wait to go inside and change her clothes before "falling" into the snow.
Here are just some extra snow videos.

Santa's Lap
Don't anyone (Julie, Mom) get copies!!! I MEAN IT!You may notice that Santa is holding Alex's hand. That's because Alex kept trying to pull on his beard.
Melynn was so excited during the entire drive to "Santa's House". She may have had some help from me. I've been talking him up for weeks now to keep her from freaking out the moment she sat down on his lap. When it came down to the time she was to sit on his lap she got a little shy at first, but I again had to hype it up and when I set her on his lap she was amazing. Santa blew her a kiss at the end and she thought that was great. She kept blowing kisses right back at him.
They each got a See's butterscotch sucker for being so good. It was so cute to watch them sitting in their strollers sucking away totally content just kicking their little legs.
