The night before last Peter was snoring really bad and I asked him to stop and this was his response: "It's absurd that you tell me to stop snoring, it's like like me telling you to stop breathing for tonight. You can pick it back up in the morning." What a dorky husband I have. I don't know where he comes up these things.

When is okay to call?
Although we love it when we get calls there is a certain time when it is not okay. And 7:30 is just to early for us. Because of Peter's work schedule we stay up later and wake up later. If there is any way that anyone that would like to call could please be considerate of our new sleep schedule that would be great. Below are a list of times that is is okay to call in Utah time. If you want to talk to Peter too. Anytime after 12:00 or 1:00 pm

The Backyardigans
I think we found a new show for Melynn to watch instead of just "Signing Time". It's a show called "The Backyardigans". Here are some pictures of her watching it on our portable DVD player.

Skinny Jammies
We bought Melynn some Jammies that weren't quite as hot. I call them her skinny jammies, because they are tight fitting. She looks so cute. Take a look.

Tub Turds
Tonight Peter was giving Melynn a bath and she had a lot of gas. That should have been our first warning that trouble was brewing. But unfortunately Peter didn't get the hint. Less than a minute later out popped a not so nice surprise.

Jamie's Pasta Salad
Well Jamie I tried to make your pasta salad today for dinner again. And well you must do something to it that you keep secret, because I can never get it to taste as good as you do. So as long as you keep making that salad I'll be coming to family functions. Just kidding.

Stupid Female Cop
So on Sunday our car stopped working, it was in need of a new battery. We still went out to work Monday and I ended up driving one of the other guys car. I was almost to my area when I saw red and blue lights in my rear view. I pulled over and the officer informed me that she stopped me for not having plates. The cars were purchased about a month ago and still had their temp papers in the window. Apparently the paper had fallen down. I explain what's going on and by her attitude I can tell she thinks that the car must be stolen or something.
We find the paper fallen down in the back window, find the registration, find the insurance info, everything for her. She takes it all and still has a guilty until proven innocent attitude. A few minutes later she comes back with a ticket for $100. I ask her if she's serious, she goes on about how I broke the law and how since I'm the driver it's my responsibility. I just look at her and try to keep from informing her what an idiot she is.
I won't make any comments about how it must have been her time of the month, or how she must have sat on her baton the wrong way, or anything. But just know if I knock her door I sure hope I interrupt her dinner, get her all excited about a free alarm system and then have the guts to say "I'm sorry, we don't accept jerks as customers."

You wanna make some Money?
On Saturday three guys from the office and I took a little time off the doors to get some lunch. After our meal Brad went to use the restroom. They keep it locked so he got the key from the guy at the counter. As he unlocked the small restroom he noticed a guy standing in the room looking at him. The following conversation ensued:
Guy: What are you doing?
Brad: Ummmm, what?
Guy: What do you want?
Brad: Ummmm, I need to use the bathroom. What are you doing in here?
Guy: I'm looking for something.
Guy: Well do ya want to make some easy money?
Brad: No, I just wanna pee.
Brad then decided he didn't need to pee that badly and came back to our table. We had a good laugh as he told us his story. Meanwhile the guy came out of the bathroom and proceeded to sing along with the song on the radio. He tells everyone that he's Carlos Santana. He then picks out a guy in line that looked like Mr T. Weird guy isn't black but he starts telling the Mr T that they need to teach all us "crackers" to appreciate good music. By now the manager and his biggest employee are trying to kick him out. He shouts, "I'll leave when I want to, and I want to now!" and kicks a garbage can. On his way out the door he sees one of our other guys locking the bathroom door and says, "Yeah boy, lock up my money, lock it up boy"

Melly's First Sign
Signing Time finally paid off. Melynn did her first sign today. The sign was CAR. The way that you do the sign is like you are driving a car or steering it. Now I never would have guessed that is what she was doing except we were watching "Signing Time" and they were doing the car sign. I really think that she is doing the sign because I tested it out. She only does this when they are covering this topic. Take a look.
P.S. I was so excited about getting this blog posted that I am sure that it doesn't make any sense. So when Peter gets home I will have him help me revise it. Thanks for putting up with all the GARBLE!

Make that FOUR
Well I was wrong Melynn is the proud owner of FOUR teeth. The third tooth is on the bottom and the fourth tooth is on the top. I guess she is just making up for the months she went without teeth.

Newest Member of APX Alarm
Peter's sister Katie has decided to come to Alaska and sell for APX Alarm. Melynn is so excited to see her Aunt Katie again. Melly has lots of new tricks to show you. We can't wait to see you.

Three Teeth
Melynn finally cut her third tooth today. This one is a top tooth. For all those who didn't know that she had two teeth, she got her second one right as we were coming up to Alaska. I would take a picture but it is not an easy task to take a photo of a 9 1/2 month old. So I'm leaving it to your imagination.

What is it?
This is a bear-resistant garbages. They were kind of hard to figure out how to use, because you can't just lift the handle.

She can READ?
If grandma Julie had a copy of this picture she would tell everyone that her nine month old grand-daughter can read. You decide for yourself...

Indian Giver Melly
Today I got a flower, because Peter has been late getting home four days this week. Peter gave the flower to Melly to give to me. He carried Melly in as she wielded the rose like a sword. When I took the flower from her, she angrily screamed at me and then lunged to take it back. Unfortunately she missed the flower and grabbing my neck, scratching as Peter pulled her away. When I gave her back the rose she squealed in delight, again brandishing her sword. Oh Melly, our little Indian giver.

Melynn's BLUE eyes
Last night when we went to the store to buy a baby monitor so Melynn could sleep in her own room. The lady in front of us waiting to check out said to us that she thinks that Melynn's eye color is a mix between Peter's (brown)and mine (green). Crazy woman. I don't think she even looked at our eyes. How do you get BLUE from green and brown? Sometime you just shouldn't speak.

Melly's own room
Melynn is finally sleeping through the night. So last night we bought a baby monitor and she spent her first night in her own room. It was a little difficult to her at first. But I think that is due to her new bottle. She broke one of her usual bottles and we had to buy another one. And I don't think she recognized the shape during the night. This happened at about 11:30. But as soon as the bottle was taken care of Peter and I finally got a full nights sleep...it's been months. She woke up at 10:30. Yea!

Sunday Log
Sometimes in church we keep a log to entertain ourselves. This is all true...I promise.
2:19 A foul odor is detected, Melly initially gets the blame, but upon inspection she is clean.
2:30 The teacher thinks he is a rapper. He raps crappy made up song about the gospel.
2:33 Melly continuously looks up Wendi's skirt.
2:38 Teacher brings up the stupid "sheep goat continuum". Of the five weeks in Alaska we've heard about this theory four times. And we had a sub one week.
2:40 Teacher passes out a multi-page handout detailing the "sheep goat continuum/juxtaposition". I'm beginning to wonder if Brother Manning and Brother Williams somehow had a child and shipped him to Alaska.
2:44 He is now talking about a technique called "tools combining". His example is listening to music while he prays. To increase spirituality. CRAZY!!!
2:50 Melly gives up on trying to play with mom and dad and moves on to the lady across the aisle. She appears to have made a friend.
2:51 I notices the Elder's Quorum President's tie, it has a picture of his baby on it. Wendi tries to make a secret note on her phone. I notice it's titled father's day gift for Peter.
3:00 Melly stuffs her new friends whole toy carrot into her mouth.
3:01 Log exceeds one page, the back of "sheep goat continuum" becomes log page 2.
3:02 I zone out wondering at what age we get to send Melly to nursery. Nine months sounds good to me.
3:04 The smell of the white board marker reaches the second row of chairs. The front row has become very passive.
3:10 Class change.
3:21 EQ Pres is trying to drum up interest in hiking local peaks. He's talking about starting small and working up to something really big. This is Alaska so I'm thinking that really big like camp one at Denali or something, but apparently something big is a 6000 foot peak. A 6000 foot peak in Utah is called west mountain.
3:26 EQ teacher is the same guy who taught Gospel Doctrine. He quotes Margaret Wheatley, "Information is nourishment". Where have I heard that before? Oh yeah, he quoted that two weeks ago when he taught EQ.
3:33 EQ teacher finishes up. It appears he has been asked to only teach Joseph Smith for 5 to 10 mintues and the rest of the time we're going to talk about food storage. I would much rather spend 0 to 1 minutes on food storage and spend the rest of the time on Joseph Smith like we're supposed to. This is three weeks now talking about food storage. I think the rice shortage is affecting people's judgment.
3:56 Insurance is negatively compared to gambling, I'm starting to like this...

The Chase
This was pretty funny. Melynn thought that it was pretty funny that daddy was chasing her and she was chasing daddy. The never ending chase.

Play Dough Recipe
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 tsp. cream of tartar
2 Tbsp. oil
2 cups water
food coloring
Mix together all ingredients except food coloring in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture gathers on the spoon and forms dough (about 6 minutes). Dump onto waxed paper until cool enough to handle and knead until pliable. Store in a covered container or plastic bag. Add food coloring for different colors. Makes about 2 pounds.

Little Pink Fish
I loved this new swimsuit it was so cute that we had to have it. It makes her look like a little ballerina. She is starting to enjoy the bath and pool more. I don’t have any pictures of her in the pool, because I would have to be in them. But I do have some more of her in the tub.

I am so glad that Grammy sent me Snooky Bunny II. This is how much I love my bunny. I always have to have it with me. If I leave it home, mom says I just can’t deal. Even when I’m sleeping I’ve got to have my snooky II. Thanks Grammy. I just love my bunny.

Airport Traffic
We have since figured out that we are really close to the airport where we our apartment is at. And it can be pretty loud at times. Here is a picture of how low the planes can get. I like this photo because it looks like it is flying into the apartment building. Not our Apartment.

Cool Girl
Melynn got new sunglasses, because she won’t keep hats on to shade her eyes so I am training her to keep sunglasses on. I don’t know how well it’s working out, but I was able to get a few pictures before she ripped them off.

We're gettin' skinny
This is Peter writing and I don't post very often so when I do you know it'll be good. Wendi and I are both working hard to eat better, exercise and ultimately lose weight by the end of the summer. I even have a bet going with one of the other salesmen up here as to who will lose the most weight. I'm already down about 20 pounds and a belt notch. Wendi is at the gym as I write this. So keep encouraging us and we'll hopefully come home in noticeably better shape.

On the Fritz
So the day that I got my phone in the mail Peter's phone suddenly went on the fritz. The screen turned white and some of the buttons stopped working. So thankfully he was able to use my old one until we could get him a new one. That is until T-mobile could send us a replacement. And now Peter is not sure if he even wants to keep the phone or if he wants to sell it on ebay and get a new one.

Black Eye Update
Melynn's eye is looking darker and the bruise is more visible, but I wasn't able to get a very good picture that showed just how much darker. I will try to get a good one over the next few days but you may just be stuck with what has already been posted. If I get a picture I will just add it to this post.

My NEW Floaties
We (Melly and Wendi) went to the pool on Friday and I bought arm floaties but when we got to the pool I forgot them and the camera in the car so I didn't get any pictures taken. So I put her in the tub tonight in her swimsuit with floaties and took pictures for everyone to see. She kept trying to suck on them. She would go back and forth having a taste of each one. I think they will work out great at the pool. And all for a $1.38 at Walmart. What a great deal.

Cause and Effect
We think that Melynn in beginning to understand cause and effect. Whenever she plays with the blinds in the living room she gets in trouble and she knows that she is going to. Well today she was watching signing time and I was on the laptop and I turned on some music and she came over and turned down the sound on the laptop so she could hear her show. Now we know that she knows what she is doing because she has done it to me several times before.

Melynn's FIRST Shiner
Melynn got her first black eye today trying to take on the bench in front of us in sacrament meeting today. It bled a little bit but not to much. She is so tough she didn't even cry...at all.

I spy Melynn...Can you?
Believe it or not, she's in there!
She always pulls the blanket over her head while she is sleeping. In fact I went it took this photo and pulled the blanket off and went back 15 seconds later I went back and the blanket was back over her face. Pretty funny.

Drive that box!
Melynn has finally decided it's okay to play by her self again. I think she is finally getting used to our new place. So tonight we were sitting around relaxing after a long day and she was playing all by herself in the corner and all a sudden she came zipping by. Check out the video you'll see what we mean.

Anyone can comment now
We wanted to hear what you all have to say about our little family blog, so we made some changes. We adjusted some of the permissions on the blog so that anyone can comment now. To make sure that all your comments are in keeping with our standards and to weed out any that make fun of us we will review all comments before they appear online. Feel free to comment, tell us how cute Melynn is, rant about politics, or whatever; your thoughts will show up the next day or whenever Wendi checks her email next.

I hate these shirts, Mom!
Melynn doesn't like the long sleeved onesies, because they are just a little to big and the sleeves are to long and they just get in the way. She gets really frustrated.
