Christmas

Here are some pictures and videos of Melynn on Christmas Day.

Melynn and her Christmas orange. She ate about three oranges and a banana. She loves fruit.

One of the many gifts that she got. I think that she liked opening them more than playing with them at first.

Enjoying some Christmas goodies.

Melly opening her blocks.

This is so funny you have to watch it all the way to the end. Not just funny for the quotes but for the very end of the clip.

One Eventful night

Since yesterday afternoon Melynn hasn't slept very well. She didn't take a nap at all yesterday and today's wasn't very long. She woke up during the night really fussy. This evening we discovered that she wouldn't sit down, not even in the bath tub. While changing her diaper we noticed she had a hard bump on her bum cheek. Yesterday it wasn't very big but today it grew to be about 2 inches long and 1 inch wide and very hard to the touch.

We decided to take her in to the doctor at about 7:00 tonight to have it checked out because we were worried she might not sleep tonight. We took her in and when the doctor looked at it he immediately said it was a boil and that they would need to lance it (cut it open) tonight to relieve pressure.

They gave her a sedative and strapped my poor sweetheart down. For the next twenty minutes they proceeded to slice open her boil and drain out the puss and fluid. All the while she cried inconsolably, causing me to cry as well. I didn't know how I could help my baby with her pain. I think that she was mostly mad that she couldn't move. But I'm sure it hurt too and the sedative made her really groggy. They packed the wound with gauze and we have to come back for the next two days to get it repacked.

She escaped!

I got a call yesterday at work from Wendi, "Are you home?" she asked.
"Of course not, its like 2:00, why?"
"Well I was taking a nap while Melly was supposed to be sleeping. All of a sudden I woke up to hear someone in my room talking."
"Did you leave the TV on or something?"
"No, your daughter was in here jabbering to me"
It always seems that when she does something bad she is referred to a my daughter not our daugher.
"If you're not home that means that she got out of her crib on her own"

It looks like that's what happened, so now it's time to lower her crib mattress. I thought it was on the lowest already, but it turns out there is one notch lower. What amazes me most is that she fell at least 4 feet from the crib rail, and if she cried it was quiet enough that Wendi didn't her a thing. My guess is she was so excited to have escaped it didn't matter the pain, she had to go brag to mom.

Gingerbread Houses

Every year it's a tradition for my family to get together and make gingerbread houses. It's always fun to see the kids and grown ups show their creativity. Although Melynn is just a little young she very much enjoyed eating the candy. I think for about an hour afterward she was on quite the sugar high.

Sophie, Sam and Katlyn finished their house and asked if they could help with ours.

Somehow Sophie ended up with frosting on her face so of course someone had to add a jolly rancher to it.

Of course Sam had to look cool too.

Colton went a bit overboard with the frosting and ended up having part of the roof break off.

I Met Santa

Friday night was our ward Christmas Party and Santa came and Melynn sat on his lap. She was not upset by this at all. She just seemed border line not so sure, but like the tough girl that she is she didn't bother to cry. She just looked around. I think that as long as she could see her Mom and Dad she was fine.

Christmas Cards

We are getting ready to send out Christmas cards and would like to send one to you if you could send me your address to my email or just leave it in the comments that would be great. wendijohansen@gmail.com

Storage Unit

We have too much junk and are looking into getting a storage unit. The problem is that it's not worth it enough to pay $35 a month. But $18 a month or $35 every other month is a little better. But we can't just put an ad in craigslist and say "hey do you want split a storage unit with us and steal all our stuff?"

So we're putting the word out, if any of you reading this (presumably people we trust) are interested in splitting a storage unit, let us know. Right now the best deal we've found is $35 for a 5 x 10 in Payson. There's also a 10 X 10 for an extra $10.

Also if you know of any good deals or have connections somewhere let us know.

Thanks

New Callings

We just got new callings. We are the newest nursery leaders in the ward. We're excited to have this new calling, but mostly because now Melynn can be in there early. We're just glad it's not Sunbeams.
