Free Write

My Sister-in-Law did a free write. It's where you write whatever you're thinking. So here's mine.

-I'm so glad that Peter gets to come home from work. I need a break from kids. Alex won't sleep and will not let me put him down with out screaming his head off. Melynn won't stop going in a touching Alex and she keeps chewing on the straw of my hospital water cup. It's driving me crazy.
-Alex is still screaming in his swing. I can hear him over the baby monitor.
-I'm really bothered by our landlord. He did kind of a jerky thing if he did it on purpose. Which I don't see any way it couldn't have been. Let me explain. For the last week or so I have been watering a small garden for the downstairs neighbors while they have been out of town. I feel I've been doing a really good job. The plants have doubled in size, so I'm happy until today. I went out to water today and found that the landlords tossed a bunch of camp chairs on to the garden while they mowed the lawn and left them there. They had to have known it was a garden I mean it looks like one. I just hope the plants are okay.
-Melynn hears Alex crying and is concerned because she has gone in to check on him and I think to make things better. And I love that she cares and tries but often times usually makes things worse. But it's the thought, right?
-I love my Mother's day gift. I got flower and pretty pot for our porch. They are so pretty.
-Melynn woke up from her nap today and asked for a specific episode from signing time. The farm episode. She signed farm. I knew that's what she was talking about because I asked her if she wanted to watch the farm one and she said yes. It was so amazing.
-Melynn just walked into the room with a bucket on her head calling it a hat.
-I love my kids. I am so thankful that Heavenly Father entrusted me with their care.
-Alex is still crying. It makes me want to cry.
-On Saturday night Peter went to go check on Melynn and take her sippy cup away from her for the night and he found that she had thrown up and crawled to the bottom of the bed to get out of it and fallen asleep with most of her body down the crack between the bed and the wall. We had to wake her up and give her a bath only to have her throw up again. I had to put her back in the tub. Peter had to take her bedding outside and hose it off while I cleaned and disinfected her mattress. What would have been an early night (11:00) to bed for us turned out to be a very late one (2:00).
-Peter is finally home. YEA!!! I love him so much. He is such a good husband and Father. He works so hard to provide for us. I know he would much rather stay at home with me and the kids than go to work but he does because he loves us.
-Melynn loves Alex so much. She is trying to share and take care of him. Right now she is in the other room trying to share her smarties with him, but she is getting upset because they aren't sticking in his hand. Then she was trying to wipe his chest and diaper area with a wipe to get him clean. The problem is he had a diaper and jammies on.
-Melly just brought me a Now & Later half eaten still in the wrapper. I asked Peter if he gave it to her and his response was "I used to eat them that way. It's not that bad."
-Well I better stop I know this is already too long. I hope you enjoyed reading what was on my mind.

From such a small boy

Alex woke up from his nap about 35 minutes ago. I pulled him out of his swing and right away swelled and felt the wet from his diaper blow out. So I laid him down to assess the situation and the damage to his clothes and came to the conclusion the he needed a bath. I made sure he was safe and telling him "okay don't pee" I left to go fill the tub (making the mistake of leaving him naked). I came back a few minutes later to get him and found a trail of wet on his blanket. I turned to him and said "you peed" upon which he smiled real proudly and I responded "and you're happy about it". With that I picked him up and took him to the bath tub. He was not in the tub one minute before he peed again. Laughing and talking to him I let the water drain all the while I'm sure he was freezing. I filled the tub again (as I so often do with two kids) and went about bathing him. When I was about to take him out of the tub he re-leaved himself one last time. I said to him "good thing your clean" and "I don't know how a person so small could make so much pee in only 20 minutes" and I got him dressed. Now he is dressed, warm, and with a semi-full belly and happy as a clam. I guess that is his way of telling me that he's cold. Cute baby.

Alex in the Tub

The next superman?

What a cutie.

Mom is torturing to poor boy.

All smiles.

How many babies do you know who can fit their whole fist in their mouth?

Duct Tape

I asked the doctor what to do to keep Melynn from taking off her diaper all the time and he said duct tape. It works great, she cannot get them off the only problem is neither can we, but I guess whatever works.

80's Movies Wendi Hasn't Seen

I'm realizing that my wife really missed out on 80's movies. Oh sure she's seen Breakfast Club and 16 Candles, but she missed a lot of good ones. The problem is I tell her that she needs to see these movies and she just doesn't trust my judgment. So I need some backup. If you feel that she is missing a vital part of eighties culture with these movies leave a comment so maybe she'll actually watch some of them.
Goonies
Neverending Story
Willow
Labyrinth
Batteries not Included
Short Circuit
Flight of the Navigator
The Last Starfighter
Stand by Me
Rocky I - IV
...and probably more

If you have a favorite 80's movie, post it in the comments and if Wendi hasn't seen it I'll add it to this list.

Happy Mother's Day Wendi

Wendi - We just wanted to tell you thank you on your day for all that you do for the family. Melly - Thanks for being my mommies and teaching me all the things you do. I'm so excited to see you every morning, and I'm so glad you're my mommies. Alex - thanks for all the milk, I like it so much more than formula. I love you so much thanks for being my momma. Peter - Thank you for marring me three years ago this fall. Thank you for carrying and raising two beautiful children for us. Thanks for putting up with me, especially with all the time that I have to spend on school and work. Thank you and have a great mother's day.

Swimming Pool

We bought a little pool for Melynn to play in over the summer. We thought this way we would save money instead of buying a pool pass. She loved it. Especially filling it up with the hose. Her friend Sara from the apartment below and her brother Ben were able to play with her. She had so much fun. Here are some pictures. These are in order from first to last taken. Enjoy!

Gushing

Lately Melynn has started talking in sentences. It is so cute to hear her able to more fully communicate. On Wednesday the two of us were on our way home from Walmart when she started to choke and cough on her juice. When she starts saying "okay Mom". She said this several times and my reply every time was "oh I'm so glad honey". I can't believe my little girl is growing up. I love her so much and it's hard to think that before I know it her son or daughter will be saying "okay Mom" to her. I love you so much Melly Belly and I thank Heavenly Father every day that he sent you to me.

Also the other day I got Melynn a Lizard at the store. She loves to run up to me and I fake scream. We started a game that when she holds it up to me I will scream like I'm afraid and she will laugh at me uncontrollably. Then I will take the lizard and make it attack her face and neck and she will laugh some more. It is so cute. I love her so much.

Also with all the rain that we have been getting. Melynn has really taken an interest in watching it. When there is just enough water on the ground to pool and when rain drops hit the pooled water it ripples. Melynn calls them bubbles.

One last story Melynn has taken to calling me Mommies (plural) I love it and would assume that she got it from me. Instead of saying "mommy is going to get it" I squish them together and say "mommy's going to get it".

Also her cute little way of saying Alex's name is "Axe". So cute. She is always trying to give him toys and helping by giving him his bottle or binky. She just loves him so much. And it just makes us love her more.

Growing Baby

Wednesday was Alex's 2 month check up and he is growing well. He now weighs 13 lbs 2 oz and is 23 1/4 inches long. He is in the 75th percentile on overall growth, just under 50th percentile on height, and 75th on both weight and circumference of his head. He is growing well and is as cute as can be.

First Laugh

Alex laughed for the first time today. Peter was making Alex clap his hands together and he giggled just a little bit. We tried to get him to do it again but he got over the excitement pretty fast.

Alex's Sleep Schedule

Well I am completely amazed that Alex sleeps through the night. He has been for a couple of weeks now. I don't really know what changed but I think it's great at 2 months old. Melynn didn't sleep through the night until about 10 months old. I didn't know that babies could sleep through the night at 2 months. Way to go Alex. We love you bubby Alex Balex.

Pic Dump

Life's been busy lately and we haven't posted for almost two weeks. Just this weekend we had two graduations and a wedding, all involving our siblings (or sibling in law in one case). So we have accumulated a bunch of pictures pictures that we want to post. Wendi will probably make me change the title of this post to something better, but if you're going for a concise title you can't do much better. Well this first paragraph has been sitting here on my computer unposted for three days now. I'm finally gonna put these up.

We came in to check on her in her big girl bed one night and she had apparently gone around her room and collected all these things and brought them back to bed with her.

She was very concerned about Colton up in the rafters here. Shortly after this shot he accidentally kicked her in the head and she thought it was pretty funny.
