What I've been up to Lately

Here are a few things I've been doing lately. There is one other item that I have been working on, but everyone has to wait to see it, because it is for a friend of mine and she asked not to know any details about it. For the select few that know what it is...SHHH!

My first crack at Banana Bread. It was so yummy. however I did learn that you should not open the oven and that Melynn could eat "Nana Cake" for every meal, as long as it has butter.

Head band and washcloths and a potholder I made for my sister-in-law/brother-in-law as a wedding gift. I know lame, huh.

I wanted to learn to make a hat for a baby. Well I found out that it wouldn't fit Alex (Big SHOCKER right?!). Pretty much every other child that's almost one has a smaller head than Alex so I decided to make it for my friends baby, Gwen (she's six weeks younger than Alex.) And what hat doesn't look better with a flower. Anyway it turned out looking better than I thought it would and it looks stinking cute on Little Gwenie. Melynn wants one really bad, but I've been having trouble getting her head size right.
Also if anyone is interested in any of these items I will hopefully be selling them online. When that happens I will let you know the prices and any other details. Hair Cut Evidence

Look at all that crazy hair. This is why I asked Peter if he thought Alex needed a hair cut. What a cutie. I love it!

The BEST Cookies You'll Ever Taste, EVER!

This is the best cookie recipe I think I have ever had. It's so easy to make and I had everything but the peanut butter cups in my cupboard. I think it took me about 30 minutes to make from start to finish and it makes about 40. Thanks Jenalee for introducing me. Enjoy!

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Ingredients:
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons milk
40 miniature chocolate covered

Directions:

1.	Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
2.	Sift together the flour, salt and baking soda; set aside.
3.	Cream together the butter, sugar, peanut butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla and milk. Add the flour mixture; mix well.
4.	Shape into 40 balls and place each into an ungreased mini muffin pan.
5.	Bake at 375 degrees for about 8 minutes. Remove from oven and immediately press a mini peanut butter cup into each ball. Cool and carefully remove from pan.

Hair Cut?

I asked peter yesterday if he thought it was time for Alex to have a hair cut, he sternly replied, NO! I told him that if he wanted to keep it this length then we needed to manage it better as well as Melynn.

Knives & Spies

I wish I could say he was sleep talking, but he wasn't.
My husband is going to be the weirdest funny old grandpa ever. If I die first I'm going to have a blast watching him hide hundreds of knives through out the house and pretend spies are coming to get him. This all came because we were flipping through channels and he stopped on the Knife home shopping channel. They just had a lot of like 336 knives for $280. He went on to discribe where he would hide these knives, for example: velcroed to the inside of the toilet tank, under the kitchen table, in the fireplace, in his computer. A few of Peter's best quotes from the conversation are: "When the zombies come your going to be glad that we have that many knives.", "We could give my dad and brother some of the knives. They did almost give each other Machetes for Christmas" (Actually Eric did give my Father-in-law one for Christmas), "Take that Martha Stewart I'm cutting carrots with a battle axe.", "If I had a Samurai sword I'd use it to cut cheese, just because I can.".

Now he wants a cane that has a sword that comes out of it and also has a taser built in. Awesome. My Grandchildren are doomed. I'm pretty sure I will die at Peter's accidental hand.

A little glimpse into the psyche of the man I married. I most certainly comes from his dad, when we visited him this week, he proudly showed us a book he checked out from the library titled "The Zombie Survival Guide".

Another Mellyism

Tonight Wendi was getting frustrated because she couldn't find her purse, I told her to calm down. Melly of course had to chime in too with, "cow down mommy, cow down"

My Creative Side

We bought a cute head band for myself last weekend. It looked easy enough to make on my own. Melly has been driving me crazy daily to play with mine. So I made her one. I love it. It turned out really cute.

Taking Steps

The last few weeks have been fun. I think we are going to have another kid that walks before they are one. Alex is steadily becoming more and more brave. He can now take 2 or 3 steps before he gives up and resorts to crawling. Crawling is so much easier and he definitely knows it. He always has to be moving and be right where Melynn is. He absolutely adores her (I'm sure it goes both ways). Every morning when we go to get them out of bed we find Melynn in his crib with him. I hope that old crib is able to support 50+ lbs.
