FREE TWO YEAR OLD...WILL DELIVER!!!

Melynn very much so has tried our patients. Yesterday she graciously decided to give herself some "art time". Let me explain.*

At about 4:00 I went into Melynn's room to check on her. She was supposed to be napping (which scarcely happens lately). When I opened the door to my AGGRAVATED surprise, Melynn had conducted at art piece by taking off her poopy diaper and using it's contents to paint on EVERYTHING, walls, floor, file cabinet, table, computer, bed, Alex's crib, stuffed animals, blankets, EVERYTHING. When I walked into the room she immediately started to cry and say "sick" over and over again. She knew what she had done was wrong.

After giving her a not very nice bath which mainly consisted of the scrub down of her life and getting hosed off with the shower head. She got the biggest time out she has ever had, about an hour on the bean bag with nothing to do but fold her arms until daddy got home at 5:30. I know that seems harsh but I draw the line with finger painting with your own poop.

When Peter got home we were cleaning it up and we decided we were going to make her sit in Alex's crib and watch us clean it up while we sternly talked to her about this not being an acceptable behavior, but after a while we let her out to go play in the living room. When I went to check on her I found that she had pulled off the right 'shift' key on Peter's laptop (we've only had it about a year), so I spanked her pretty hard and put her back in Alex's crib.

All the while our poor little Alex was stuck in his saucer toy screaming to get out. I felt so bad, but we couldn't let him out, because he would have crawled into his room which is where the mess was.

Later in the evening after we had put the kids to bed early, really early...7:30 (for us 7:30 is really early). I was on Facebook and made a comment about what had happened in my status bar and my "awesome" brother-in-law (Charlie) commented "quit whining that's part off being a parent. I think it is funny". I politely responded "Charlie, I'll make you a deal. The next time it happens I'm calling you to come clean it up. Off her walls, floor, bed, chair, tv, stuffed animals, books, everything. I was literally gagging the whole time. Then you can tell me to "stop whining". ".

A lot of you may think that I was a bit harsh, but you have to remember I've been dealing with this crap (literally) for about 8 months. So the question is...How would you react?

*Also I don't know how much of this makes sense, but it's very late and I've had an extremely CRAPPY day.

Threes

Well if I were really as good as that last post suggested I would have posted something to my beautiful wife on our anniversary. But here it is a day later and I'm finally getting around putting a post up. That in and of itself shows who's the better half of this partnership.

These three years have flown by. We've moved three times, owned three cars, you take care of three kids (two small and one big) and over all that time we've only had three fights. Okay well maybe we've had a few more than three fights but we've always been able to work things out.

So on our third anniversary I wanted to list here three reasons I love you.

1) Your happy smile. Nothing brightens a difficult day more than to come home and see your smile. When I get tired, when life gets rough all I need to see is that smile and those dimples and my cares seem to melt away. Just knowing that you're happy to see me makes everything I do seem worthwhile. Your smile and dimples are so cute and that's why I love you.

2) Your dedication to family. It seems you spend all your time taking care of one of us kids. Either it's feeding time or pooping time or playtime but rarely is it mommy time. Your ties to your siblings are incredibly strong, and I hope that I can stay that close with my brothers and sisters over time. It's easy to see that nothing means more to you in the world than your family and that's why I love you.

3) You are the other half of me. I am no longer just me, you are no longer just you. We are forever Wendi and Peter, Peter Pan and Wendi Darling. Everyday we become more and more inseparable. I don't know what I would do without you. You are a major part of every aspect of my life. Wendi you are everything to me and that is why I love you.

Three Short Years

Who knew that in just three short years we would go from just the two of us to four.

It's amazing how fast time goes by. I love you so much, Peter. I am so glad that I get to spend eternity with you. In the time we've been married we've had two kids, moved four times, once to Alaska, we were sealed in the temple for eternity, and now we're trying to buy a house (that is if it EVER goes through).

Thank you so much for giving me two of the most beautiful kids on the planet. Thank you for loving us even when I make it so difficult. Thank you for providing for us and allowing me and making it possible for me to stay home with the kids. I am so proud of you, for all the things that you have done. You will be graduating soon and we are so excited to be able to spend more time with you, but understand why you can't right now.

Peter, I don't think you could be a better father or husband. We look forward to you coming home everyday. Melynn can hardly bare the anticipation, she talks about daddy for at least an hour before you get home and will not let you out of her sight once you are. Alex will do everything in his power to get to you when he first sees you. He more often than not tries to climb out of my arms and over my shoulder to get to you. It's so cute how you are with them and the way you light up when you arrive home and those two sweet little faces smile up at you with excitement. Nothing else matters when we are around, which can be hard sometimes when you need to do homework.

I love you so much and I thank Heavenly Father every day that I get to be married to the most wonderful man. You make me laugh at the strangest things, my favorite is when you say something bazaar in your sleep. You make everything better when I'm having a hard day with the kids. You comfort me when I'm sad. You listen when I just need to talk. I love you so much. I guess what I'm trying to say is thank you for the last three years and I am excited for 70 more on this earth. And forever after that...As long as you are your same weird self.

Also Thank you David and Julie for raising such an honorable man. Someone so kind and loving. Someone who treats me with respect and as his equal. Who is greatful for me. And shows me everyday how much he loves me. Thanks for raising him in the gospel and teaching him about the importance of the priesthood and temple marriage. David, thank you for making him just as crazy and weird as you are. I think that's what I love most about him. I never know what will happen next. Thank you giving him the gene to find where we are going, when the only clue that we have is to look for the big oddly shaped rock on the side of the road with a stick sitting on top. I've never met a smarter person and it's all because of you. Thank you and I love you for Peter.

Her are a few pictures of our wedding just for good measure.

I had to add this one for good measure, because this is exactly how my family really is. Poor Keith... ha ha yeah right as if he doesn't ask for it.

Some pictures of our Honeymoon.

2 Random Pictures

I love this picture. I don't know why I just do.

I love this picture it looks like the neighbor boy is chasing Melynn with the bucket of water and Melly is chasing the little neighbor girl with the hose.

Conference Saturday's Peanut

We usually watch Conference at Peter's family's house. Probably because we don't have to buy the snacks. Ha, Ha just kidding...kind of. So tonight while the guys were at Priesthood session us girls and Alex (because Peter wouldn't take Alex with him) decided to rent a movie (Ghost Town)to watch while they were gone. HA! HA! That makes me laugh because there was no watching done by me.

This is how that two hour block went for me. For the first 20 minutes of the movie Melynn had a little plastic dinosaur that for some reason we all had to kiss...30 times each. Then Alex woke up from his nap really cranky (he didn't sleep long enough), fussy and crying, so I took him out of the room to see if I could get him to go back to sleep. Ten minutes into that I hear Julie (my Mother-in-law) knock on the door to come get the tweezers, because Melynn (YOU SHOULDN'T BE SURPRISED BY THIS) put a peanut up her nose. So there we were sitting on the bathroom floor, me trying to hold Melly still and Julie first trying to teach Melynn to blow the peanut free and then trying to dislodge it with a pair of tweezers.

After five minutes Julie asked me to try, but my panic meter was already though the roof. I decided that I was just going to take her to the ER to extract the peanut and pick up Peter on my way. So Melynn, Becca (sister-in-law) and I were in the car on our way. Becca was there to keep Melynn from putting her finger in her nose pushing it up further. Becca did wonderfully distracting Melly. All the way to pick up Peter I could hear Melynn in the back seat trying to blow the peanut out.

I picked up Peter from priesthood session, but couldn't find Melynn's insurance paper, so PETER decided to see if he could get it out with the tweezers. So we went back to Peter's parents house. Peter took one look at the tweezers and said "this isn't going to work" so he sent Becca to find something more suitable for extracting the peanut. While waiting for that we were still trying to get Melynn to blow it out on her own. At one point it almost came out, but she accidentally pushed it back in. But with continued encouragement from everyone she finally was able to blow it out on her own...right onto Daddy's leg. It came with a little added slime. Peter has a spot on his pants to prove it. And I was finally able to stop freaking out.

That's how my priesthood session went. I hope next time it goes better. And the moral of this story is that peanuts and my 2 year old daughter DO NOT MIX.

On a final note. I fully blame this panic mode on my Mom. I got the gene from her after all.

Melly's Bedtime Shirt

Peter always remembers and loved getting to pick out onE of his dad's t-shirts to wear to bed. He talks about it all the time. He always wants to do it, but never has. So tonight(Sept 25th) he decided he would.

Melly's trying to give daddy a drink of her milk.

Cool Pic

I just took this picture outside about two hours ago. We were outside playing with water balloons and I had to take about 150 photos to get this one. It's a balloon popping.

Bed Time

Last night Melynn decided she wanted to go to bed in Alex's crib. Which is set to the height for him. I was a little concerned with this idea, but decided to let her do it anyway and just keep an eye on her. This is how we found her.

Holy Crap she looks like me!

I just had a realization that Melynn looks like me. Now let me explain. I know that All of you think that Melynn looks like me, but I have never seen it...until tonight when I took a picture of her. When I looked at it I thought, "that looks just like me when I was a little girl". I showed Peter and he agreed. What do all of you think?

I realize I'm not looking at the camera and I'm a few years older but I can see it a lot in this picture.

P.S. You will see this picture again.

Movie Night

Last night (Sept 24th) we went to Blockbuster and rented Monsters Inc. for family movie night. Something that we just started last night. We also wanted to know how long Melynn would last if we were to take her to a movie at the theater. Turns out she is not quite ready for that just yet. She lasted just a little over an hour. Our TV broke in the living room so we watched it in our room on our bed. Melynn wanted to sit on the bean bag so we hauled it in there and she and I laid on it together. We ate popcorn, crackers, cookies and milk. I think she loved it and I think we will be doing it again soon. It's a cheap fun activity to do with our kids. It'll be even more fun when Alex it big enough to enjoy it.
