"Arms?"

Every night we say a prayer with Melynn before going to bed. Actually we usually end up saying 3 or 4, at least I do, I don't know if Daddy does. Melynn always makes sure to ask every night in her sweet little voice "Arms?", As if to say "Don't forget Mommy/Daddy".

Last night, tonight and today at nap time I've been teaching her how to say them herself. She's got the general idea. A lot of it is gibberish, but you can usually understand 3 or so words spread through out.

Tonight's prayer consisted these words "Heavenly Father, Mommy, Boots (from her show Dora), spiders, and Amen (which sounds like Men)".

I left the room laughing...I love having a two year old!

Also on a side note, last Sunday Alex started to crawl normally instead of the army crawl.

Testimony Meeting

Testimony meeting was weird yesterday. One lady got up and said she is a recovering drug addict and alcoholic for 19 years; that she had been excommunicated because of it and didn't tie it back in to forgiveness or repentance. Then she outed her Visiting teacher for being a recovering heroin addict. What the crap lady, some secrets you want to keep hidden away in your closet.

Also October post and Halloween post to come.

Mourning

For the last week or so I've been thinking a lot about my nephew, Korbin. I don't know why I've been having a hard time lately. Maybe it's the season, the looming Holidays, or that he absolutely hated Halloween.

Then I thought, mourning is something that you never really stop doing. Especially when you're mourning the loss of a loved one. Even though I know that Korby is happy and that I will get to be with him again one day, it still doesn't make it any less difficult. I notice that mourning is also different, because of the difference in ages that people leave us. Let me explain. Korbin was only 5 when he left us and my Grandma was 83. Just because I don't cry when I think of Grandma doesn't mean that I don't love her or miss her less. It simply means that she was 83 and Korby was 5. Grandma was able to live a full life, where Korbin's was cut short.

I read a quote by President Thomas S. Monson is the most random of places, Maceys, "The past is behind; learn from it. The future is ahead; prepare for it. The present is now; live it.". Even though I knew this before, I again realized that this quote is something that we should all live by. Learn from the things you've done in your past, but also remember those you've lost along the way and honor their life. Prepare for what is to come or what could be. And last, but most important is to live today and everyday like it is your last.

I love you, Korby! I promise to keep you in my heart and in the minds of my children. I want them to know that living the Gospel is the right path. That through the gospel we will one day get to return to see loved ones, a loving Brother, and Our Father in Heaven.

I love you, Peter, Melly and Alex! I love my families (old, new & married into).

Shoplifting

I just saw a guy get busted for shoplifting 2 loaves of bread and a drink from Maceys. He was crying like a little girl. Kinda made me laugh. The other day I saw an employee take an energy drink out of the cooler and never pay for it. What is with people lately? He was about 18 or 19 and with his friends. When he got caught he pulled out his wallet to pay, but realized it was to late. He knew what he was doing and I don't think it was because his family was starving. Even if they were it still doesn't make stealing okay.

Melly's new talents

Saturday night we were on our way home from visiting family and we stopped at a gas station. Wendi was in the car with Melly and after a minute or so she heard from the backseat, "P...O...N...P...O...P...E...P...N...P". She was reading the letters somewhere, but it was dark and there was nothing in the car. After a minute of letters Wendi noticed the flashing neon sign in the window "OPEN". Melly was reading off the letters.

The next day we were sitting in sacrament meeting and again she loudly starts spouting off letters, "E...X...T...X...E...T" She missed the "I" but that was definitely the EXIT sign that she was reading.

She had also picked up some new phrases, "I'm coming", "No way", and any time we change her poopy diaper she make sure to tell us that it's "sick" and "gross" and "stink". Finally today she was watching Dora and said, "abre" or open in Spanish along with the characters.

She's just growing up so fast and I just had to brag her up a little here on the blog. I mean, we all know that the most faithful readers of this blog are the grandmas and I just had to give them some ammo in the "my grand kids are smarter/cuter than your grand kids" battle with their co-workers/friends. Your welcome.
