I think that ladybugs must really like us. In the last two weeks we have had three lady bugs in our apartment and it is always at night. We had two the other night and one tonight. I have never seen lady bugs inside by their own doing. So strange.

July 4th Mishap
Our day at the lake started off with what probably should have been a trip to the hospital for my mother-in-law; when a mattress coil punctured her foot while in the water. At the time it just looked like a big gaping hole in the top of her foot, but looking at it today it's good that she's got a doctor appointment tomorrow morning. She no longer had an ankle, her foot is so swollen and the redness has started to move up her leg. We keep teasing her and giving her some quick fix solutions such as amputation or letting me squeeze on the wound to drain the fluid. Both of which she immediately shot down without a moments hesitation. We were also giving her some some suggestions on how to liven up her "how did that happen" story for her co-workers. Some of which include: Utah Lake Sharks and Chinese spiders. Again I don't think she was to thrilled about our making light of her pain.
In all seriousness we do feel bad for you Julie and hope that your foot gets feeling better soon.

July 4th Adventures
Our Fourth of July was a fun filled day of adventure. It all started out with lunch at Peter's parents house and a quick birthday party for Jenalee (sister-in-law). Then we were off to the lake (Utah lake that is) for some fun in the sun and a little swimmin' (in Melly's words). Melynn loved the water, but don't worry she was able to touch the bottom and there was always somebody by her side. She loved it so much in fact that she fell asleep on my shoulder in the water, because she didn't want to get out. When it was time to get out she cried to get back in. At one point her Aunt Katie took her to shore to warm up, but she was only wrapped in her towel for a few minutes before she was pulling on her floaties to get back in. After we got home and got cleaned up Melly had found her floaties and was walking around saying, "swimmin', swimmin'" wanting to go out again. Later in the evening we went back over to do fireworks but by the time it was dark the kids were too tired to stay so we decided to do it the next day. They ended up hating it anyway. It scared them both with the sound and the crackling and brightness. Here are some picture of us at the lake.

Is it salvageable?
Well my scroll ball stopped working on my phone so we bought a replacement and the tools to repair it. Well I think that peter got a little carried away. I just hope it's still salvageable. What do you think? Here's my phone in a muffin pan.

First Firework Experience
Last year we were in Alaska and it is illegal to have fireworks so we were unable to teach Melynn about them. She was probably too young anyway. So this is her first real Fouth of July. So we showed her about snaps and sparklers. She loved the snaps and caught on really quickly. But we had to help her with the sparklers of course. I think At one point she traded hands and her thumb was in a place that would get burned if left there. Peter kind of panicked and pulled it out of her hand. After that she wanted nothing to do with them.
I don't know what is going on with the videos, but they are coming soon.

Little Melly
I forget sometimes just how small my little girl really is. This picture doesn't really do her justice. But she likes to take off her clothes and she curled up really small under her blanket. So cute.

Spaghettios
Melynn loves spaghettios. Can you tell? She was so covered she had to have a bath. Also in these pictures Peter is playing a game with her. She is covering her eyes so Daddy can't see her (She can't see him so he must not be able to see her).

How old are you, fifteen?
Lately Melly has developed a new habit, when she thinks Wendi or I are going to leave she'll grab onto our pants pocket and walk around with us and not let go. It's pretty cute.
The other day she thought I was going to leave so there she was attached to my back pocket. After she realized I wasn't going anywhere she went back to playing in the living room. A few minutes later I noticed something didn't feel quite right, after a quick self inventory I realized that I had been pick pocketed! Sure enough my wallet was sitting on the living room floor, Melly was nowhere to be found. I pocketed my wallet and went looking for her. She was hiding in her room, my debit card in one hand and my credit card in the other. If I had any cash I'm guessing she probably would have made off with that too. I was really hoping to have a few more years before having to deal with this!
