A Big Girl

Melynn has been asserting for a while now that she is a big girl.  One day we asked her, "Melly, why do you think that you are a big girl?"  With a sneaky grin she responded, "Because I drank some of your petsi, (Pepsi) a long time ago mom."  Apparently it's a coming of age thing and once you drink your first Pepsi you are a big girl.

A stinger

Melly was running around out back tonight after dinner.  She got a little carried away and fell and scraped her elbow.  She came crying to me and I inspected the wound and kissed it better.  She asked if it was bleeding and I told her no, that it was just a "stinger" (in other words a hard hit that stings for a little while).  In tears she responded, "Dad, why does the ground have stingers on it?"

Alex a new home

The other day I was talking to Melynn, this was our conversation:

Mom: "When we have a baby (someday), does she want a boy or a girl?"
Melynn: "mmm...maybe both"
Mom: "No, How about a boy?"
Melynn: "But what will we do with Alex? Will we find him a new family?
Mom: "No (laughing hysterically) we won't. We love Alex. It's okay to find dogs new homes, but not my kids.
Melynn: "So would we have two babies (counting Alex)?"
Mom: "Yes"

I guess because we found Lola a new family that meant that when we had another baby (someday) we had to get rid of another one first.

Also Alex now says the word "de-wish-us" (delicious). So cute. I was making breakfast for dinner and as I was scrambling the eggs Alex commented, "yum, eggs, dewishus". He is growing up so fast.

Never leave him alone

TWO MINUTES...That is all the time it took for my little boy to pour dish soap into my purse. I was standing with in five feet of the car when he caused this destruction. Why did I have dish soap in my car, you ask...visiting teaching gifts. It took me two hours to get it out of the seat. Peter was sweet enough to tackle my purse...my phone, camera and wallet live to see another day...so does Alex, barely.

Dreaming

I am awake at 3:30 in the morning because Alex woke up crying for me. I figured he just wanted his sippy filled with milk instead of water, but when I went in there he is sobbing and when I finally understood. He said "Melly, threw away my fruit snacks.". He asked me for some more fruit snack in the baggy. When I told him that we didn't have any all we had were gummy vitamins, he seemed okay with have them. I guess he was dreaming because we haven't had fruit snacks in over a week. Plus we don't want Melly to get into trouble for something she only did in a dream.

The Hymn Book

This past Sunday before sacrament meeting started I was showing Alex the hymn book and explaining that the stuff on the pages are songs. He got bored and I put the book back in it's place.

As the meeting started I pulled the hymnal back out to sing the opening hymn. Alex jumped up and said, "Wait dad, the songs fell out!"

He then proceeded to pantomime pulling things out of the little shelf where the books are kept and dumping them into the open book. After about 5 or 6 loads of songs he declared, "All ready dad."

Such an imaginative little guy.

Missing

Last night, as I typically do, I went to check on the kids before going to bed. I had been watching one of those cop shows were a kid was abducted and held captive for ten years. Imagine my shock when I opened Melynn's door and her bed was completely empty, no blankets, no pillow and most importantly, no Melly. Of course my mind jumped to conclusions and I ran to the window to try to figure out how the bad guy had gotten in and how far away he might be. After a few seconds a more sensible part of my brain kicked in and I looked around the room.

There in the closet was a bundle of blankets and under them was Melly sleeping away. For some reason she had decided that she'd rather sleep in the closet and had taken her stuffed animal "snookie" and made beds for the two of them in the closet.

They wanted this....

A couple of days ago one of the kids brought me the Duct tape and asked me to tape them. I know they don't look happy, but Alex got mad when I took it off. Melynn looks like she is missing a hand. Awesome.
