We survived the flight home. Melly had a really tough time on the first flight, unfortunately there were no empty seats this time so she sat in our laps the whole way. About halfway through she finally fell asleep, but not until she had thoroughly annoyed everyone in a 3 seat radius. No one said anything, but I do feel bad for the poor guy that sat next to me. At one point Melly dripped her bottle on him, and I know she kicked him at least once.
The second flight was better, the plane was smaller and she could see out the window and that kept her busy.
We were supposed to have an hour layover in Denver, but our first flight was late in arriving and even later on departure. By the time the fasten seat belt light blinked off our 58 minute layover had turned into an 18 minute layover. To further complicate things we were changing airlines and still didn't have our boarding passes for the second leg. Fortunately the airline had a map of the Denver airport and we could plan our race. After a brisk jog with Melly in the stroller and a quick train ride we arrived at the gate, 3 minutes to spare. Unfortunately our luggage wasn't so quick. It had to catch the next flight 4 hours later. It was a pain, but Delta was nice enough to give us a loaner car seat to get home and delivered the luggage later that day.
We're so glad to be back in Utah, if only we could have brought the weather with us. Well not the rain, but I wouldn't mind having a high temp of 75 everyday.

Overwhelmed with EXCITEMENT
I just wanted to post this saying that we are so excited. More excited than a dog that just spotted a cat (Peter thinks I could be more creative with my descriptions sometimes...Dork.). We leave to come back to Utah tomorrow night at 11:30 pm and finally get into Utah at 9:00 AM on Monday morning. We are so excited. That's pretty much all we talk about. Well that and Melly. We aren't sure how she is going to survive on the plane. Scary. Well this entry probably doesn't make much sense but oh well. You read it anyway. Ha. Ha.

No internet
We turned off our internet in preparation to leave Alaska. Since we are mooching wireless off an unsuspecting neighbor there probably won't be any new postings until Monday. But never fear loyal readers, I'm sure there will be tales of our adventures on the way home, we'll make sure to post them as soon as we're back.
Plus we have more pictures we'll be posting soon.

Countdown
There are only 64 days until Melynn gets to meet her Uncle Scott for the first time.

Chasing the Soap
Here is a video of Melynn trying to grab the soap so that she can eat it. She gets it a couple of times, but Peter knocks it out of her hands before it makes it to the mouth. More than once we have found the bar of soap with teeth marks and scrapings out of it. Peter says she is punishing herself for swearing in baby language.

I prefer to walk, Mom & Dad!
The red "X" is our apartment and the red "O" is where our friends the Nay's live. Peter was taking out the trash and Melynn wanted to go. So we walked outside and I set her down and she just started walking. We wanted to see where she would go so we followed her two steps back. The Nay's have a little girl named Savannah that Melly absolutely adores and we followed her all the way to Savannah's. We said hi and then followed her right back to our apartment door without guiding or holding her hand at all. We are so amazed that our one year old knows how to get to Savannah and back to our house without any help. It's amazing that she would know that. Wow!

Videos work again
I did some poking around and I think I've solved the problem with videos not playing.
Unless you want to know the details go skip to that video that didn't work before...
Now that only one person is still reading, it looks like adobe flash has trouble on pages that have lots of videos on the same page. Our blog was set to show the last 50 entries. As you may have noticed we post lots of videos and apparently at some point we got too many for the latest version of flash to handle. So the options were to try to go back to flash 8 or reduce the number of videos on the same page. Rather than mess with uninstalling flash (again) and possibly uninstalling firefox (again) I decided to modify the blog.
So now you will only see 15 entries on the main page. All old entries are still available by clicking the month they were posted on the right bar. 15 was a good compromise since I wanted 10 and Wendi wanted 20. Right now 15 enrties takes us back about a month. Wow that means we post almost every other day, pretty good Wendi!

Crazy Kid.
Melly has gotten pretty good at climbing up on the couch, but it still takes a lot of effort. Tonight she was playing with the laundry basket, trapping herself underneath it, climbing in it and rolling it upright and pushing it all over. At one point she pushed it up against the couch. Apparently that gave her an idea, it wasn't as high as the couch edge, so she climbed on top of it and right on to the couch. Too bad we didn't have the camera handy or we'd post a video.
