No internet

We turned off our internet in preparation to leave Alaska. Since we are mooching wireless off an unsuspecting neighbor there probably won't be any new postings until Monday. But never fear loyal readers, I'm sure there will be tales of our adventures on the way home, we'll make sure to post them as soon as we're back.

Plus we have more pictures we'll be posting soon.

Countdown

There are only 64 days until Melynn gets to meet her Uncle Scott for the first time.

Chasing the Soap

Here is a video of Melynn trying to grab the soap so that she can eat it. She gets it a couple of times, but Peter knocks it out of her hands before it makes it to the mouth. More than once we have found the bar of soap with teeth marks and scrapings out of it. Peter says she is punishing herself for swearing in baby language.

I prefer to walk, Mom & Dad!

The red "X" is our apartment and the red "O" is where our friends the Nay's live. Peter was taking out the trash and Melynn wanted to go. So we walked outside and I set her down and she just started walking. We wanted to see where she would go so we followed her two steps back. The Nay's have a little girl named Savannah that Melly absolutely adores and we followed her all the way to Savannah's. We said hi and then followed her right back to our apartment door without guiding or holding her hand at all. We are so amazed that our one year old knows how to get to Savannah and back to our house without any help. It's amazing that she would know that. Wow!

Videos work again

I did some poking around and I think I've solved the problem with videos not playing.

Unless you want to know the details go skip to that video that didn't work before...

Now that only one person is still reading, it looks like adobe flash has trouble on pages that have lots of videos on the same page. Our blog was set to show the last 50 entries. As you may have noticed we post lots of videos and apparently at some point we got too many for the latest version of flash to handle. So the options were to try to go back to flash 8 or reduce the number of videos on the same page. Rather than mess with uninstalling flash (again) and possibly uninstalling firefox (again) I decided to modify the blog.

So now you will only see 15 entries on the main page. All old entries are still available by clicking the month they were posted on the right bar. 15 was a good compromise since I wanted 10 and Wendi wanted 20. Right now 15 enrties takes us back about a month. Wow that means we post almost every other day, pretty good Wendi!

"Baby"

This girl just amazes us everyday.

Crazy Kid.

Melly has gotten pretty good at climbing up on the couch, but it still takes a lot of effort. Tonight she was playing with the laundry basket, trapping herself underneath it, climbing in it and rolling it upright and pushing it all over. At one point she pushed it up against the couch. Apparently that gave her an idea, it wasn't as high as the couch edge, so she climbed on top of it and right on to the couch. Too bad we didn't have the camera handy or we'd post a video.

Turnagain Arm Glaciers & Icebergs

Here are a couple of picture of some glaciers and icebergs.

Peter and Melynn holding and touching a piece of glacier. And family photos.

Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center

On Sunday we went to the wildlife preserve and saw a bunch of really cool animals.

Melynn did not want to be in the car seat any longer. This was on the way there.

I like how the elks mouth is open.

The baby buffalo look dead.

Wendi's Shoes

This afternoon we were getting ready to go on our adventure. As Wendi pulled on her right shoe she commented on how quickly her feet were getting this during this pregnancy. She then pulled on her left shoe and noticed that the shoe fit perfectly. She then began to wonder out loud why only one foot was changing. So she took the right shoe off to investigate. From across the room I heard her exasperated voice "Melly!". I looked over as she pulls a wadded up baby wipe in her shoe. But just so you know Melynn has a thing for putting things in shoes, cups, the toilet. We're just lucky she doesn't know how to flush.
