This afternoon I was at my sisters house. I was visiting with another sister who is in town from California this week. All of a sudden I heard a crash and I heard Melynn start to scream. I knew it wasn't the usual fighting kids cry, but that she had got hurt. She came upstairs and I held her to comfort her. I laid one hand on her head as I held her to comfort her. I asked her what happened, but she was crying to hard to be understandable. Luckily Dylan (Nephew 9 months older than Melly) told me something about getting struck in the head with a toy chest (I don't remember all the details due to the panic of it all). Anyway she cried for a minute and I put her down thinking that was the end. I went to go start the dishwasher and noticed that my hand was covered in blood. I quickly checked myself for injuries, finding none I panicked and called for Melynn. Upon inspection I found the back of her head covered in blood. It had started pooling in the hood of the jacket she was wearing. I rushed her to the bathroom and called for Veronica's help. Veronica told me I needed to stay calm to keep Melynn calm. I felt anything but calm. She grabbed a washcloth, wet it with warm water and cleaned the blood from Melly's hair to see the wound. Melynn was so calm and trusting of Aunt Veronica and was so still while getting cleaned up. Thankfully the cut wasn't that bad and we got it to clot. Although she does have a pretty good bump (not like Trig's "Klingon-Star Trek" forehead).
There is no way that I would have made it through this with out my awesome big sister. Thanks Veronica, you saved me an unnecessary trip to the Emergency Room.
